Established as a joint venture between [b](EMI)[/b] subsidiary The Gramophone Co. Ltd. and Paul Hamlyn Publishing Group in the UK, later establishing branches in, South Africa, Australia, France, Germany, Belgium. Sweden., selling low cost re-issues owned by parent companies vast catalogue, also including some original material. 

The company was wholly acquired by on 1st Jan 1971, and remained an immediate subsidiary of renamed company until 2013, as of 2017 the company remains active (dormant) and subsequently a direct subsidiary of Parlophone Records Ltd.
