Capitol Music Group

Capitol Music Group was formed in February 2007 as a merger of [l=Virgin Records] and its record label counterpart, [l=Capitol Records] in an effort by [l=EMI Group] to restructure the company. After the merger, Virgin and Capitol continued as labels under the new company.

Currently, the corporate group gathers various companies formerly under the now-defunct [l=EMI], which (along with Virgin, Capitol and [l=Priority Records]) was acquired by the [l=Universal Music Group] in late 2012.

In February 2024, Capitol Music Group was merged with [l=Interscope Geffen A&M] to become [l=Interscope Capitol Labels Group], a new music label unit under UMG.
