Early issues had the label name spelled as 'WingGate' (with two G's), but this later changed to just 'WinGate'. The label design shared the 'g' and 'W' from the label design. Wingate was a subsidiary of Golden World, and was in operation from early 1965 until early 1967. The label was purchased by Berry Gordy 1968.
