Private Stock
Label founded in 1974 by [a=Larry Uttal] after being replaced as president of [l=Bell Records] by [a=Clive Davis].
The label was shut down in 1978 when Uttal moved to London. His son, [a=Jai Uttal], now owns the rights to the label's catalog but the master tapes have been lost after an unpaid storage bill forced their auction. As a result, CD releases of Private Stock material have been dubbed from vinyl.
The label's acts included [a=Blondie], [a=Jose Feliciano], [a=Samantha Sang], [a=Frankie Valli], [a=Nancy Sinatra], [a=Cissy Houston], [a=Robert Gordon], The [a=Michael Zager Band], Starsky and Hutch actor [a=David Soul], [a=Austin Roberts], [a=Walter Murphy] and the [a=Big Apple Band], and French-Canadian disco diva [a=Caroline Bernier].
