Cold Chillin'
A New York hip hop label that released many classic hip hop records from the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
Founded in 1986 with [a=Len Fichtelberg] serving as President, it initially operated closely with Fichtelberg's [l=Prism] label. In late 1987, it signed a five year distribution deal with [l=Warner Bros. Records] corporate parent and effectively began to operate as an imprint until early 1994. It was subsequently distributed by Epic Street/SME Records and transitioned into a reissue label as it ceased issuing new material. LandSpeed Records acquired the [l=Cold Chillin'] brand around 1998. However, [a=Big Daddy Kane]’s works remained with Warner Bros.
Most of the label's releases were by members of the Juice Crew, a loose-knit group of artists centered around producer [a=Marley Marl].
