Tim Gaze (2)

Tim Gaze

Tim Gaze (born 8 August 1953) is an Australian rock and blues guitarist, songwriter, singer and producer. He formed his first band in 1966 when he was 13 years old. By the time he was 15, he was playing professionally in one of Australia’s first progressive blues surf rock bands, Tamam Shud. He has had a diversified career, here and overseas, both recording and working ‘live’ with artists Jimmy Barnes, Jon Lord, (Deep Purple), Bob Daisley (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Moth Super Rainbow etc), Russell Morris, Brian Cadd, Kiki Gyan, Stevie Wright, Rob Grosser, Renee Geyer, Doc Span, Peter Howe (Morning Of The Earth), and more recently with ‘The Green Machine’, featuring Noosa mayor Bob Abbott, and Tim’s own band, The Echoes.

From the very beginning, Tim has had a strong association with surf music and the surf community. It began with Tamam Shud. The band was a significant contributor to the soundtrack of the 1971 Australian surf film Morning of the Earth.

This lead to a number of other soundtracks including Band on the Run and the Hot Buttered Soul series. Tim and the Shud also performed on the acclaimed Delightful Rain: a celebration of Australian surf music in 2006.
