Real Name: Dorothy Jeanne Ashby

American jazz harpist.
Born August 6, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan.
Died April 13, 1986 in Santa Monica, California.
Worked with Stanley Turrentine, Wendell Marshall, Shirley Scott, Art Taylor, Stan Getz, Jimmy Cobb and others. She was taught to play the harp by Velma Froude at Cass Technical High School in Detroit, who would teach Alice McLeod (better known as Alice Coltrane) a couple of years later. She had two music publishing houses Wiljean and Wiljean Music.
