Czech conductor. Born June 29, 1914 in Býchory near Kolín (Bohemia, former Austro-Hungarian Empire, now Czech Republic), died August 11, 1996 in Kastanienbaum LU, Switzerland. Son of Czech violinist and composer . Emigrated in 1948 after the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia, lived mainly in Switzerland and in the U.S. After the death in 1961 of his first wife, the violinist [url=https://cs.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludmila_Bertlov%C3%A1]Ludmila Bertlová[/url], he married Australian soprano in 1963.
