John Redmond

American lyricist, singer, and music publisher.
Born in Clinton, Massachusetts on February 25, 1906 - died on August 26, 1982.
He was mostly known for his songwriting skills. With James Cavanaugh and Frank Weldon he wrote “The Man with the Mandolin” (1939) and two carols, “Christmas in Killarney” and “Thirty-Two Feet and Eight Little Tails (Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen).” A collaboration with Cavanaugh and Nat Simon produced “The Gaucho Serenade” in 1939. May artists of that era has sung his tunes, a.o. Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday and Rosemary Clooney. Redmond is best remembered for his contribution to “I Let a Song Go Out of My Heart,” written with Duke Ellington, Henry Nemo and Irving Mills in 1938.
Redmond was a past president of the Song Writers Guild of America and a lifetime member of ASCAP.
