David Bleakney

Canadian booking agent, promoter, talent manager, record company executive and producer. Was manager of talent firm Alexander Agency's office in Ottawa in 1967. In 1968 he moved to the Wilson-Garden agency in Montreal. In 1969 he had his own agency with Jim McConnell (Bleakney McConnell) and started using "A Target Production" on releases they produced. In January 1970 he was hired as a house producer and A&R rep for Quality Records Limited at the same time as Barry Keane, with whom he helped establish the Celebration label for Quality (it was Bleakney who named the label). In early 1973 he left Quality and established the label Special Records with McConnell.
