Peter Collins

British record producer, mixer and songwriter, born January 14, 1951 in London, UK - died June 2024. Co-founder of production company Loose End Productions.

He started playing guitar in his teens and developed into a singer/songwriter. His uncle who was in the music industry, got him a deal with Decca where he released one album. Around 1970, his uncle got him an entry job at a recording studio and then at a music publishing firm. Starting his own jingle-writing company, Collins was mentored by jingle writer/producer Roger Greenaway. At a MIDEM industry seminar, U.K. label [url=https://www.discogs.com/label/87589-Magnet-Records-Ltd]Magnet Records[/url] hired Collins as their producer after hearing some of his masters. One of the first acts Collins produced for the label was Matchbox.

In 1985, Collins moved to the U.S. to produce Rush after being introduced to the band by guitarist Gary Moore. He produced a string of hits for many artists, including: Alice Cooper, Musical Youth, Bon Jovi, Queensrÿche, and Air Supply.
