Paul Mann studied music at the Viennese Academy of Music under Joseph Marx.
Starting in 1928, Paul Mann was a member of the "Korngold Minstrel Jazzband" (together with Paul Schlesinger and Ralph Erwin, among others). He also worked as a composer for films in Berlin until 1933.
Mann emigrated via Cherbourg, France to the USA, arriving in New York City on March, 22 1937. He settled in New York City and became a US citizen in December 1944.
Mann wrote more than 50 musical compositions, including Frank Sinatra's theme song "Put Your Dreams Away" (1944). Other successful songs include "They Say" (1938); "For Tonight" (1939); "Angel In Disguise" (1940); "And So Do I" (1940); "Make Love To Me" (1941); "The Woodchuck Song" (1946); "It's Anybody's Love Song" (1946); "The Finger Of Suspicion Points At You" (1954). Both in Europe and in the USA, he often worked with Stephan Weiss.
