Group made up of four people that that had met in north Philadelphia. It consisted of [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/9513829-Fannie-Cobb]Fannie Lee Cobb[/url] and Varcels, Bobby Harman, Charles Griffin, and Charles Robinson. They recorded a single [url=https://www.discogs.com/Fannie-The-Varcells-The-Guy-Inside-Of-Me/release/11252870]"The Guy" / "Inside of Me"[/url] for 's [url=https://www.discogs.com/label/718468-Lash-2]Lash label[/url]. The A side was written by Cobb.
Cobb later appeared on recordings of the first-named [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/7913853-Honey-And-The-Bees-3]Honey and The Bees[/url] . This group started out as The Creations in 1964. The line-up also included Lulu Martin and Rita Graves. They recorded a couple of singles for the [url=https://www.discogs.com/label/154912-Academy-2]Academy label[/url]. "Inside of Me" was recorded again by this group and was the B side of their second single, [url=https://www.discogs.com/Honey-And-The-Bees-Two-Can-Play-The-Same-Game-Inside-O-Me/release/9561323]"Two can Play the Same Game"[/url].
The Fannie & the Varcells tracks, "The Guy", "Inside of Me" as well as the Honey & the Bees version of "Inside O' Me" appear on the 2009 compilation [i][r=11043891][/i]. The lady on the cover is said to be Fannie Lee Cobb.
