Pete Farndon

English bassist and vocalist, born 12 June 1952 in Hereford, England, UK.
Farndon played with Cold River Lady from 1974 until the summer of 1976. He then toured with Australian folk-rock band The Bushwackers in 1978.
Pete joined The Pretenders in early 1978 and was the first member of the 1978–82 lineup to be recruited by Chrissie Hynde.
By early 1982, Farndon's drug use was causing strained relations with his bandmates. Pete's drug problem resulted in his being dismissed from the group on 14 June 1982.
Two days after Farndon's dismissal, Pretender guitarist James Honeyman-Scott was found dead of heart failure caused by a cocaine overdose.
Music project Samurai was formed with fellow bandless dismissal Topper Headon, singer Steve Allen, guitarist Henry Padovani, organist Micky Gallagher but was short lived.

Farndon died on 14 April 1983 in London, UK, when he was found by his wife drowned, having lost consciousness in his own bathtub due to heroin overdose.
Farndon's musical influences included Stanley Clarke and Jeff Beck.
