Real Name: H. Lamonte McLemore

Vocalist, songwriter, bassist and photographer, born September 17th, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Lamont was in a group called the Versatiles that auditioned in 1965 for Marc Gordon, who headed Motown's Los Angeles office. Although Motown rejected the group's demo tape, Gordon agreed to manage them and brought them to the attention of Johnny Rivers, who had just started his own label, Soul City Records. The group had major hits with songs by Jimmy Webb, who had been a writer for Motown's Jobete Publishing and Laura Nyro. Florence married Marc Gordon in 1969.The group recorded a version of "Love Hangover" for ABC in 1976, forcing Motown to rush release Diana Ross' version. The Fifth Dimension's version reached #39 R&B & #80 pop. In 1978, after Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis left to perform as a duo, the group signed with Motown. The group at this time consisted of Florence LaRue, LaMonte McLemore, Mic Bell, Terri Bryant & Lou Courtney. The group recorded two albums for Motown and had a hit with the single "You're The Reason (I Feel Like Dancing)
