American composer, pianist, and writer on music, born Elmhurst, Illinois, USA, September 12, 1939.
Composer of orchestral works including three piano concertos, chamber music, and many works for solo piano, among them six sonatas.
Author of several hundred liner notes and interviews with American composers. Annotator and Program Editor from 1977 to 1993 for the New York Philharmonic.
He has also performed with Walter Carlos aka Walter Carlos.
