Reality was founded in 1970 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, by 8 musicians from Surinam, Curaçao and Aruba. They released their first, untitled album in 1972 on . Their second, also untitled album was released in 1973 on as . In 1973, lead singer (real name ) went solo and the remaining members changed the name to [a=Solat], teaming up with singer . Solat released a couple of singles and recorded with Hans Dulfer as [a=Dulfer & Perikels].
