American country singer/songwriter and sister of [a=Earl Montgomery] and [a=Carl Montgomery], Born October 14, 1938 in Iron City, Tennessee. Died January 15, 2025.
Six of Melba's written or co-written songs charted, including "We Must Have Been Out of Our Minds" sung by her and , making it to #3 on the U.S. Country chart in 1963 and "What Do You Say to That" by George Strait (co-written by Jim Lauderdale), which hit #4 on the same chart in1999. She and as a duo charted seven times on the country charts. She and as a duo also charted six times on the country charts, including "Something to Brag About" which hit #18 in 1970.
