The Buckinghams

American pop rock band that formed in 1965 in Chicago, Illinois. The band, which began as a garage R&B combo but later was augmented with a strong horn sound, scored its greatest chart success with the #1 hit "Kind Of A Drag," which began to break out nationally in the last weeks of 1966. In 1967, the Buckinghams enjoyed five top 20 singles in the Billboard charts but saw their fates decline precipitously the following year. The Buckinghams disbanded in 1970, but reformed in 1980. The band's original lineup included [a=Carl Giammarese] (lead guitar and vocals), [a=Nick Fortuna] (bass), [a=Dennis Miccolis] (keyboards), ("Jon-Jon") [a=John Poulos] (drums), Curtis Bachman (vocals), and [a=Dennis Tufano] (vocals). Bachman departed after the band's first single. [a=Larry Nestor] briefly replaced Miccolis on keyboards and was himself replaced by [a=Marty Grebb] of [a=The Exceptions] in early 1967.
