Danish Radio Big Band

The jazz big band of The Danish Broadcasting Corporation was established in 1964 and has been renamed several times. Currently the correct Danish name is "DR Big Bandet". The orchestra was build from "Det Nye Radio Danse Orkester", after that changing its name to "Danmarks Radios Big Band" and from 2008 "DR Big Band". Various English name variations have been used. The first leader was [a=Ib Glindemann]. Other leaders over the years have been [a=Thad Jones], [a=Bob Brookmeyer], [a=Jim McNeely] and [a=Chris Minh Doky].

Not to be confused with [a=The Danish Radio Jazz Group] which was formed in 1961.
