Ronan O'Rahilly

Real Name: Aodogán Ronan O'Rahilly

Irish radio entrepaneur, artist manager, label owner (Major Minor) and film producer
Born: 21st May 1940 Dublin, Ireland
Died: 20th April 2020 County Louth, Ireland
Best known for founding the offshore radio station Radio Caroline and the man who, as his manager, convinced George Lazenby to give up the role of British Agent James Bond after only one film. Prior to his involvement with Radio Caroline, O'Rahilly ran the Scene club in London's Soho district and managed a number of pop music artists, including Georgie Fame, Alexis Korner and MC5. He recorded a Georgie Fame record on his own independent label, unheard of at the time. The refusal of the BBC and Radio Luxembourg to play this single was the catalyst to set up Radio Caroline. He later became involved in the production of a number of films, including as executive producer on the Marianne Faithfull film, "Girl on a Motorcycle" and "Two Virgins" featuring John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
