Ulf Horbelt
Real Name: Ulf Horbelt
Mastering engineer and editor who's owner of 'dms Marl', working for more than 350 labels for DMS, Marl, Germany.
Between 2023 and 2024 he was working for "Finest Audio Mastering", Germany.
In 1983, he started working at EMI Cologne as a technical engineer. He was responsible for the DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) clearances and learned DMM cutting.
In 1987 went to Alsdorf, Germany and worked at Record Service Alsdorf (the WEA vinyl and CD pressing plant) as a cutting engineer for vinyl lacquer & DMM.
His scribes in the vinyl leadout are 'H', 'HO', rarely 'HOR' or 'U.H.'.
In April 1990, he founded his own mastering studio called "dms - digital mastering studios", in Gelsenkirchen.
In 1995, he moved with his mastering studio to Marl, Germany. From there on the mastering studio was called dms-Marl.
Between 2023 and 2024, he worked for 'Finest Audio Mastering, Marl'. The studio 'Finest Audio Mastering' was closed in September, 30th, 2024.
After more than 40 years working for the music industry, and mastering more than 20.000 products on vinyl and CD, he is now retired.
