Jack Lewis

Canadian/American jazz producer, songwriter died January 2011. A&R man for Columbia records in NYC at the age of 18. Worked on pinnacle Jazz recordings in the 1950's. Formed a recording company called Little David Records with partner Monte Kay. Worked with Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Milt Jackson, Joao Gilberto, Nina Simone, Jackie & Roy, Herbie Hancock and Tony Williams, John McLaughlin, Bill Holman, Nora Guthrie, The Lovin' Spoonful and Kenny Rankin; Woody Allen, George Carlin, The Committee, Burns & Schreiber and Flip Wilson and a bunch more. He has also produced the music in movies, Laurence of Arabia, Dr. Strangelove and primarily jazz anthologies and he produced a cult classic of 13 live concerts at the Wiltern Theater, called Jazzvisions. Repertoire director at RCA Victor, United Artists Records and Colpix Records.

Do NOT confuse with the rock & roll songwriter Jack Lewis (3) ("Teenage Idol", "Green Finger", etc) (mixed up credits on ASCAP repertoire).
