English tenor saxophonist, born 26th November 1939, Manchester, England.
After moving to London, Themen worked with blues artists Jack Bruce (from 1962) and Alexis Korner (1963). Later performed with rock singers Rod Stewart and Joe Cocker. In 1974 he began an association with Stan Tracey, touring extensively and recording with him.
