Emil (Samuel) Grigorievich Gilels (October 6 (19), 1916, Odessa, Russian Empire - October 14, 1985, Moscow, USSR) - Soviet pianist, music teacher. Hero of Socialist Labor (1976). People's Artist of the USSR (1954). Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1962) and the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1946).
