Madura

Madura was an American, wide-ranging jazzrock, funk, fusion and soul band from Chicago, formed from the ashes of Bangor Flying Circus around 1970 by Alan DeCarlo and David "Hawk" Wolinski. The only change in personell was the drummer; Michael Tegza was replaced with one of the most renowned drummers in the world, Ross Salomone.

Madura can be seen and heard live on a short concert scene in James William Guercio's movie Electra Glide in Blue (1973) with Robert Blakeman, playing a part of Free from the Devil, which also is included on 97916. David Wolinski also appears as an actor in the movie (credited as Hawk Wolinski), playing the part of "David, the VW bus driver."

The band's name Madura was inspired by the Meenakshi temple in Madurai, India.
