In 1979 Larry signed with [l=American Recording Company (ARC)], which is managed by [a=Maurice White] of [a=Earth, Wind & Fire]. He started recording his solo debut album in 1980.
He was already a well-known songwriter who wrote songs for artists such as [a=Chaka Kahn], [a=Average White Band], [a=Teri Desario] etc. He worked extensively with [a=Jon Lind].
