The Majestics
As a recording act, the Majestics were a Toronto instrumental R&B group that released four LPs for Arc Records during the second half of the 1960s. The only exception was their third LP, which featured local singer Jackie Gabriel on a couple of songs; she was otherwise not associated with the group.
As a live act it was a different story. In 1964, a couple of years prior to the first of the four LPs, they did a 45 as Jay Smith and the Majestics. After Jay Smith left in 1965, they brought in singer Jay Jackson, and shortly after added Jay's sister Shawne Jackson and became one of the biggest groups in town. However, neither Jackson is on any of the albums, though when the group changed its name to Heads of Our Time, and released an LP, Jay Jackson was listed as a full member.
