Real Name: Joseph Kirkland
Diamond D aka [a=Joseph Kirkland] is a Grammy Award–winning hip-hop producer and MC from the Bronx, New York City. Born on April 5, 1968, he is one of the founding members of the influential [a=D.I.T.C.] (Diggin’ in the Crates Crew), alongside artists such as [a=Lord Finesse], [a=Showbiz & A.G.], [a=Fat Joe], and [a=Big L] and others. He began his career in the late 1980s as a DJ and producer before releasing his critically acclaimed debut album Stunts, Blunts and Hip Hop in 1992, which showcased both his lyrical skills and sample-heavy production.
Diamond D has produced for a wide range of artists, including A Tribe Called Quest, Fugees, Busta Rhymes, and The Pharcyde. In 1997, he earned a Grammy for his production work on the Fugees’ The Score.
