


Michael Cuscuna
Real Name: Michael Arthur Cuscuna
American jazz producer and writer, born September 20 1949, Stamford, Connecticut - died April 20, 2024. As a freelancer, he researched the archive of the label from 1975 especially for releasable unissued recordings which eventually led to the co-founding (with ) of [l=Mosaic Records (2)] in 1983. During the course of his career, Cuscuna worked on jazz releases for the major record companies, including Sony on box-sets of its holdings recorded by , as well as supervising new sessions for independents, though he is best known for producing reissues. He won Grammy Awards for box-sets of (his Capitol piano trio recordings) and (her 1933-1944 recordings), as well as for writing the notes for a Davis set.
