Anna Brooks

Saxophonist, vocalist, musical director / arranger and recording artist Anna Brooks’ prestigious career has gained her a reputation as one of the UK’s leading jazz / funk / pop saxophonists.
Anna studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Her first album ‘My Time' with the Anna Brooks Quintet was released in 2003 and her E.P ‘Going My Way’ followed in 2007.
She is a longstanding member of the Brooklyn Funk Essentials (saxes & vocals) and in 2020 joined Jools Holland's Rhythm & Blues Orchestra (alto sax & vocals).

As musical director and arranger, she spent two years with George Treadwell’s legendary group ‘The Drifters’ and nineteen years with Roy G. Hemmings’ ‘Dictionary Of Soul'. This followed two years touring with ‘70s glam-rocker Roy Wood and several years touring and recording with Indian composer /violinist John Mayer's ‘Indo-Jazz Fusions’. As lead alto saxophonist she performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival with the Walsall Jazz Orchestra and recorded two albums of their original music. Anna is also a well-respected music arranger, music copyist and music educator.
