Real Name: née Lucy Mary Agnes Hickenlooper

American pianist, music critic and teacher.
Born 8 August 1880 in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Died 17 May 1948 in New York, New York, USA.
Married to conductor (1911-1923, divorce).
Samaroff began studying with her grandmother, and, after her talent for the piano was discovered, she was sent to Europe to study. She was the first American woman to win entrance to the piano class at Paris' Conservatoire Nationale de Musique.
In 1905, as Olga Samaroff, she self-produced her New York debut at Carnegie Hall (the first woman ever to do so).
