Stock, Aitken & Waterman
Real Name: Mike Stock, Matt Aitken, Pete Waterman
Prolific British pop production and songwriting team, formed 1984, best known for their HI-NRG mid 80's club mixes and 'manufactured' pop at the end of the 1980s. Arguably the most successful in UK chart history. Matt Aitken left in 1991 and Stock, Aitken & Waterman continued with PWL and its imprints from 1993 alone when Stock, Aitken & Waterman left. At their peak, they were knocking their own productions off the UK #1 singles chart and market share was almost 30% in 1989. They were also responsible for the UK's best selling singles artists of both 1987 (Rick Astley) and 1989 (Jason Donovan) and over 400 single recordings. Other best known of their artists include Kylie Minogue, Mel & Kim and Bananarama. They achieved their first #1 single production with Dead Or Alive (76420, March 1985 - released 1984).
