Real Name: Sol Guy
Canadian producer, manager, film producer, and former head of [l=Figure IV Entertainment] from Grand Forks, British Columbia, he later moved to Vancouver where he started his career as a manager for Canadian hip-hop outfit [a=Rascalz]. He then went on to work for Arista Records in New York City as director of International Artist Development. Over the years, he has worked with many hip-hop luminaries such as [a=Lauryn Hill], [a=P Diddy], [a=India Arie], [a=K-Os], Rascalz, [a=The Roots], [a=Outkast], [a=Kardinal Offishall], [a=Dead Prez], [a=The Notorious B.I.G.] and The [a=Wu-Tang Clan].
In 2007 he launched 4REAL.com to bring together activism and entertainment, after which he started working with Somalian-born hip-hop MC [a=K'Naan] as his manager. He has produced films such as 4Real (2007), A Tribe Called Red: The Virus - feat. Saul Williams & Chippewa Travellers (2016) and Tough Bond (2013).
His father William Richard Guy was an Afro-American from Kansas City, Missouri, the United States of America who had emigrated to Canada after his military service in Vietnam. Sol credits his father for instilling a sense of social responsibility in him during his upbringing.
