The Damned

English punk band formed in 1976 in London by [a=Dave Vanian] (vocals), [a=Brian James] (guitar), aka [a=Captain Sensible] (bass then guitar), and aka [a=Rat Scabies] (drums).
The group was the first British punk band to release a single ([m=18998] in 1976). They turned to a more psychedelic and gothic sound in the 1980s.
