Marc Paul Simon
In 1972, when Disco Music was in its infancy, a young entrepreneur named Marc Paul Simon started a Tip-Sheet for club DJs called "Simon Says" and developed the notion and formula of promoting and distributing records (then it was all about 7" singles) to club DJs. He helped push Dance Music to the forefront of the record company "priority" list.
Many early disco artists owe a lot to Marc for his vision, energy and commitment to dance music that launched their careers. He was hired as a music consultant for the 1978 film "Thank God It's Friday".
Sadly, on March 18, 1988, Marc died in Santa Monica from complications due to AIDS.
