The Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory, consisting of students from the orchestral department, is the pride of Alma mater. Its history began almost simultaneously with the history of the and the activities of the Moscow branch of the Russian Musical Society.
Under the direction of , the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra performed at the III World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin (1951) and the IV World Festival of Youth and Students in Bucharest.
In 1972, the orchestra under the direction of F. Mansurov = and (conducted by A. Lazarev at the competition) won 1st prize at the Herbert von Karajan International Youth Orchestra Competition in West Berlin.
Since 2009, the director of the orchestra has been Vyacheslav Valeev = .
