American bandleader, pianist, composer, author and actor.
Born December 30, 1895, Brooklyn, New York, USA.
Died September 20, 1975, North Miami, Florida, USA (aged 79).
He led bands for over 57 years including in 1941 his orchestra began a residency at the Taft Hotel in Manhattan that would last 25 years.
