Eugene Nemish
Canadian violinist born in Winnipeg and died in Montréal on August 5, 2001. He began studying violin at an early age. In 1930 he won the Aikins Trophy for stringed instruments at the Winnipeg Music Festival. He was awarded a scholarship to the London Royal Academy of Music when he was 15 years old. He won numerous musical prizes and performed in England and Europe with the Academy Symphony, Birmingham Philharmonic, and Boyd Neal Orchestra. In 1945 he joined the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and played there until retirement.
