Shelley Harland

British female singer, songwriter from Caterham (Surrey, UK), but now residing in Sydney, Australia.

She began her musical life in 1999 as "Phoelar" a bedroom and 8 track collaboration with Australian programmer Andrew Wright.
After being captivated by electronic music, Harland relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she programmed, wrote and recorded the bulk of her first album "Salt Box Lane".
She was discovered by Magus Entertainment and Nettwerk Music Group in New York. Untrained in music she began sampling sounds in the subway and then, in her little Brooklyn apartment, she chopped them up into beats on her MPC 2000 sampler, added strings, piano and vocals, which helped her to create a unique sound. Shelley was quickly signed to Chrysalis Music (now BMG) in Los Angeles, followed by Sony Music & Alberts Publishing.
