Fischer is the founder and honorary director of the , now the Haydn Philharmonie. He formed the orchestra in 1987 to perform the works of where the composer lived and worked. The orchestra consists of some of the finest musicians from Austria and Hungary. Recording at the Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria, the Orchestr recorded all of Joseph Haydn's 104 symphonies on . The project was completed in 2001.
